Finding My Own Way
03:21
|
|||
I'm losing my mind with all the news I've read today
These days don't seem as long all on my own
Looking at the years I've lost along the hopeless way
And looking at the years, oh how I've grown
In finding my own way I take the road less traveled on
to find those long lost wonders and to look for who I am
I think someday I'll know, Oh, but today is not that day
And soon I'll spread my wings and learn to fly
If misery is sweet, a drug that drags you further down
I've been there more than once but never more
In losing where I'm from I've gained a lot from where I am
And in losing all that pain I'm better now
I see it all the time and I can hear it in their words
The same old themes I tried to leave behind
It saddens me to think they'll never take that crucial step
It maddens me that some will never grow

Falling Further
02:51
|
|||
While the rain is pouring down upon the grass
Outside the window, hold your breath
I think we'll stay here for a while.
Keep your head above the clouds or see it washed
Away in torrents running through
The streets are wine dark in the flood and flowing strong.
I see stars up in the sky that shine their light
Upon the darkness creeping in
The sun won't shine as bright in here.
Oh, but if you think you're lonely
And you find yourself lost at sea
Then you might not make it back to shore in time.
And it's falling further down
We're all just falling further down
You know that when it rains it pours
But let us see just what's in store
And I'm falling further down
It's all just falling further down
So hold on tight we'll make it
Out of this old town alive
See the leaves turn red in autumn just before
The snow falls on them. One more time
Then let us think the spring will come.
You say "stay the course" repeated ‘til it's wringed out
all its meaning waiting for
A sign to guide you will you choose to make your own?
As the last leaf settles down upon the barren
Crested ground here, there's a breeze
That carries songs from far away.
And it’s singing of the days for
When I'd dreamt the things I could been
Oh, but even in the darkest nights there's hope.
Ad astra per aspera
Through the fire we must go
Et omnes una manet ox, so
Through the fire we must go
Ad astra per aspera
Through the fire we must go
So let us live, since we must die and
Through the fire we will go

The Coyote and the Sound
03:23
|
|||
Long ago in the land of the flame,
For some the tale is told by a different name
Coyote stole fire away from the land
He came back to the earth just to give it to man
Their tales he had contravened
For some he’s a hero, for some he’s a fiend
But the truth is just that which I cannot have faith
Cause I know that these legends all have their own place
Conquer Fire and give it to man,
Prometheus bound for a similar plan
telling tales with the plucking of strings
I will sing of the legends of kings,
the coyote, and the sound.
Though the years they have not been too kind
And the people forget, and the legends resign
Some tales of his still have yet to be told
So I’ll strum out these chords for those legends of old
Give me reason to see
That the stories we tell give us meaning to be
When we’re all lost at sea
We’ll be able to make our own worlds and know that we’re free

The Wind Blows On
03:32
|
|||
Blinded by the light of day I see it loud and clear
In finding what I've lost I say the words I cannot hear
I'll keep my breaths abated for the few they have not sated
As I wait, I breathe, again
Falling deeper in the dark while vines climb up the walls
Poison arrows hit their mark as echoes shake these halls
I walk along this pavement down a path without relenting
My own mind, I dream, again for stars to guide me home
While the wind blows on as free as I could be
Drawing all my breath I stand, frozen still in time
For all my dreams may I achieve, alone in my own mind
Rolling hills pass carelessly with storms that follow close
Filling with great fervency a heart's resounding throes
I drive along recounting all these songs that I am sounding
In my head, I look, again for stars to guide me home
For all our dreams may we achieve, alone in our own time

While We're Here
03:55
|
|||
It's funny while we're laughing here
But tragic after going home
The time that seems to pass us all the same
You never have a clue to when
Another day might never come
Tomorrow seems too far away from here
But dwelling on the past they say
Can never lead to any good
And dwelling on the days to come means death
So staying in the present day
Is all I'll ever do again
Just look out up ahead and I'll be fine
I got my hopes and dreams to guide me,
And time after time they glide me
To help me land safely on the ground.
It's easy to forget the best of times that cheer you up,
So while we're here let's make the most of our short lives.
I've waited years for being here
And others waited even more
But pretty soon we'll never have to fret
Reminding me of better days
Since all our colors tuned to grey
When all our cures made trouble even worse
It's there for us to take and
If we want it we can have it now
No matter all the hurdles in the way
I sit here in the crowds away
from all the action up on stage
Where all this trouble's easier said than done

December Skies
02:54
|
|||
The winter wind is here again,
The leaves fell down like rain.
The year will soon be over now,
And snow rests on the boughs.
The days are shorter than before,
They're frozen to the core.
The days are passing quickly now,
They're never here again.
Can you tell me where the time has gone?
The clock ticks louder than before, it
keeps me up at night.
It came, it went, it's over now.
Not a trace left to be shown.
It has a way of calming me,
This blue December sky.
It makes me think of younger days,
That never come again.
But soon I'll have to go to sleep,
And end this weary day.
This story will be over now,
the trees will bloom again.

Dreaming of My Freedom
03:23
|
|||
It started in the dead of night and split the silent air
Rockets broke the tension; trucks have rolled into the square
“It never could have happened here,” is what they say to me
So blind and deaf to hardship drawing nearer can’t they see?
The bombs go off at midnight as I'm praying for my life
I take one look at home I know I’ll never see again
Cause I know that my world will never be the same
and I'm dreaming of my freedom now
when all I feel is numb
The cowards in the west against the monsters in the east
Will tell you what you’ve seen and how to feel, down on your knees
And when all the flags we fly are broken tattered and torn
at the fading of these days when there’s no one left to mourn
So now I’ll grab my empty gun and raise my fist towards the sky
This hopeless fight we march towards; our useless battle cry
So fight! Fight! Fight! Against this all imposing might
Raise our spirits high and give our lives and march into the night
And when the smoke is clear
we all will cheer
"The day is saved at last!"
Though at least that's what I tell myself
and I won't quit 'til it's won

To Save the World
03:34
|
|||
The days are shorter now than how they've ever been before
The world watches closely for the day we all abhor
I know I shouldn't listen to the sounds of growing fear
For reason is the way to save us that I know is clear
Ten hours on the road spent just to find what I had lost
Just to find what I had seen reliving echoes of a cross
That had held the hearts of men with covered ears and eyes
Waiting for the dirt to speak all while looking at the sky
You don't have time to worry 'bout the thoughts of other men
while longing for the life that you always should've had
So live with dedication and fill your life with joy
'Cause the days will come and go all before you even blink
And if life's taught me something that I really gotta share
To save the world is easy, all you gotta do is think
It's all laid out in front of us if only we're to look
The things we cannot see now having gotten all the books
And things we only feel having gotten all the thoughts
But things can change as always now if only it is sought
For life is to be lived and not to do as you are told
Now all of what you live for couldn't be more bleak and cold
See that I'm a free man and not a slave without an owner
And my life is mine to own and not for yours to control!
And truth can’t be concealed, all you have to do is think

Death of an Artist
03:28
|
|||
I read your book the other day and heard the news of your defeat
Although you had so much to say they say you walked a lonely street
I know you had to go to war, I know you had no other choice
For what you will have left us now may let us all rejoice
Paint me a picture, paint with your words
And show me a window to wonderful worlds
So stand for your people, with pride in your heart
And I won't let your death mean the death of your art
You left and we were proud of you and you were just as proud of us
If only we all knew what was the cause of your mistrust
And though you never got a chance to pick that paintbrush up again
As if to keep us all entranced away from what you meant to say
You may have kept us out of hell, that thing that all great artists do
A moment lost in space and time away from what is true
But you fed us all a dream as though our eyes may have been closed
For what you tried to show us here, now no one really knows
But the walls were closing in
There was nothing you could do
And so you took your life
"As lovers often do"
But the cards already played
And the die already cast
And they made the world afraid
And they kept the world aghast
But the truth is now forgotten
And perhaps we never knew
You

The Fire
04:02
|
|||
The wild woods are calling him to leave his life behind
With promises of greatness lying just beyond the brush
In his place among the few who learned to take him in
With prophecy they do not understand
Leaning all the things he needs to hunt and fight and live
All for that very few who he can give all he can give
With monsters lurking in the dark beyond the pouring rain
Is this race against the clock in vain?
Oh, he'll be our saving grace now with our world gone astray
And with a fire in his heart he'll lead us fearlessly someday
I saw the lights shine bright above that glisten on the rocky quartz / leafy pond
And tell that only fire now can save our lives
With fire burning brightly on that fateful winter night
Destiny approaches, now the score is settled here
Some will live, and some will die but none will wait another day
And save our lives that fire did that day
Many years have passed now from that battle to the death
But ghosts have come to haunt him in the shadow of his past
At last that score is settled, and the day is saved again
He stood his ground and stood for one last time
In the end it's not enough, he still had lots of work to do
For when he lost his life that day, we lost our fiery hope
So pray the stars to guide him on into eternal sleep
But heroes never die, their deeds live on
And with a prophecy fulfilled, an era meets it's rightful end
As time still marches slowly on, I cannot sleep alone at night
And with a prophecy fulfilled, an era meets it's rightful end
As time still marches slowly on, I cannot sleep

I May Be
04:23
|
|||
I may be blind, but I see stars
I may be weak, but I can hold on
I may be strong, but I can hope
And if I bend, oh don't let me break
But do you wish to see which ways
the winds will blow across the plains
Holding out for one more day of fresh blue snow
Thinking you can match the pace
they set out on the trail for you
Oh I want that too, oh I want that too
I may be lost, and wander off
If it's not me, I can't carry on
I may be far, but I can hear
And now I know, who it is to be
I may be cruel, in all I say
but if there’s hope, I hope to be true
I may be sharp, in mind and wit
for all I want, is all I can’t have
I may be fire, and all I hope
But let it save, our dreams in this night
I may be love, pulled apart
But please stay true, a promise to keep

This Con
02:58
|
|||
It's that time of year again we get to be ourselves
Is there a trace of where the time has gone?
My car's parked on the driveway and my bags are packed away
I'm on the road before the crack of dawn
I see a signpost on the road say only fifty miles to go
As I anticipate whatever lies ahead
As soon as we walk through those doors we'll start this party right
And we'll make the most of all of our time tonight
Nothing's gonna keep me from this con
It's been great to see you here again
Otherwise our being here just wouldn't feel the same
So it's been great to see you here again
Excitement grips the air to keep our disbelief suspent
It's like a dream we never want to end
Caught in between a cloud of fur and people just like me
So please don't mind us if we're up till three
At the end of the night when our days turn out right
We'll see the dawn of the sun and know our time's come
For the light in the dark and this bright pleasant spark
Brings us back to this world again and again and again!
Oh, it's been great to be with you my friends

Feels Like Forever
03:51
|
|||
All alone I sit with all this noise I cannot hear
Cannot hold our hope we'll lie and wait another year
For the end has come upon us to begin and start anew
And say that we're alright but know this night is almost through
It's been great to have you all but now you've gotta go
I wish it wasn't like this but you know it must be so
So as we spread our wings to all the corners of the globe
If there's one thing we can bring let's bring along our hope
Every end has a beginning and every beginning has an end
to all the friends we made and the memories we shared
Cry out all you want but know it cannot change a thing
Days will come and go, oh well, who knows what time will bring
I know it's not forever, but god it feels like forever
So when the sun comes up on Monday, set us free-
And when this time we share is over now we'll all be missing
All the friends we made but look it's time to keep on living
In this world of ours we may have had a quick respite
But in this end of ours we may have had a bit of spite
And we plan for next year, oh, there'll always be a next year
While we go our ways just know we all long for here
They tell us that it’s over but I say “It’s never over!”
And we’ll be here till the sun comes up that’s all I ask for
Now hold on friends there'll always be a next year,
Now hold on friends as long as we are still here,
Now hold on friends for now the end is but near,
Now hold on friends there'll always be a next year!
